Workshops

Pint of Irish workshops provide an opportunity to develop an existing talent or discover a new one!  Workshops are open to students at all levels of proficiency and may include lessons in subjects such as dancing, singing, Gaelic language (Irish, Scottish, Manx), poetry, bagpipes, guitar and fiddle and a range of other instruments, all led by accomplished musicians and teachers.  

Celtic Song Workshop

Van Nuys, CA

This will be a one-day workshop totally centered on Celtic songs and singing.

Registration (through Aug. 15th): $20/POI Members and $25/non-POI Members.

Late Registration (after Aug. 15th): $30/POI Members and $35/non-POI Members.

The doors will open at 9:00 am for coffee/tea and settling in. Classes will start promptly at 9:30 am. Lunch will not be served, but participants can either bring their own lunch or order a lunch at the registration table. The last class will end at 4:30 pm. There will be a short song session at the end of the day for everyone to show what they learned.


Tim Martin will be teaching traditional Irish songs. Tim is an accomplished Sean-Nos singer and Irish Language instructor. Tim can frequently be seen in LA area sessions playing a bodhran and spoons.  Randy Buckley, lead singer with Mayde in Ireland will teach Pub Favorites and Mark Romano from The Ploughboys will share his knowledge of "Songs of Resistance and Rebellion".
